Are Blogs still a thing in 2026?

Yes, blogs are absolutely still worth your time in 2026. Blogs drive organic search traffic, build brand awareness, and nurture potential customers through their buying journey. With tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console, you can measure exactly how your blogs are performing and use that data to create content your audience actually wants.

“Are blogs worth my time?”

“Are blogs still relevant?”

“Do blogs actually work?”

Do blogs work?

(Spoiler: Absolutely!)

These are the questions we ask ourselves when we’re trying to figure out if our marketing is working. I know I’ve certainly asked my self this question. Whether you call it a “blog” or an “article,” at the end of the day it’s rich, purposeful content on your website that’s specifically created for the audience you’re trying to reach. Your audience. And if you’re asking yourself the same thing in 2026, the short answer is, Yes, blogs are absolutely still worth your time and effort. In fact, I’d call them a must-have for your marketing mix. So let’s talk about blogging in 2026 and answer the question, “are blogs still relevant in 2026?”

Blogs have evolved, big time

Gone are the days when blogs were basically online diaries or cluttered “content dumps.” In 2026, your marketing data shows you the true value your blogs can bring. From driving new traffic to increasing brand awareness and nurturing potential customers in their buyer’s journey. Blogs can do a lot more than you think. If you’re asking yourself, but how do I see all of this? How do I know if they’re working? This is one of the areas we dive into in our 4 week mini program the Marketing Review Room. I’ll show you what to look at in Google Analytics, how to understand what you’re looking at, and what actions to take next in your marketing.

We need to stop thinking of blogs as “just content hubs.” They’re interactive marketing tools that can be customised, and evolved for different audience segments over time. With the right insights, you can tailor each blog to resonate with your audience. Considering there are over 600 million blogs worldwide, accounting for a third of all websites (WebTribunal, 2023,) it’s clear that blogging isn’t going anywhere.

Data fuels (and grows) your business

Let’s talk about data. You knew it was coming.

So how do you use your marketing data to understand if your blogs are working?

How do you monitor the performance of your blogs to inform, and improve the effectiveness of your blogs, and content?

If you notice that how-to blogs/articles drive three times the engagement of your opinion pieces, that’s your green light to double down on practical guides. Or if readers are dropping off after paragraph four, it’s time to tighten up your structure and review your content. SEMRush reports that 97% of businesses surveyed reported positive results from content marketing. Simply put, your data shows you what’s working, and what isn’t, so you can keep delivering the content your audience actually wants.

Measurable results, real impact

Too often, I see people treat blogging like a “nice-to-have.” But in 2026, it’s definitely a must-have, just like looking at your data. With the right setup, you can see exactly how many email sign-ups come from your blog, the quality of your organic traffic, and even how many readers convert into leads or paying customers.

Why does this matter? Because, from all the data I analysed in 2026, organic search consistently drove about 40–50% of total site traffic. For many of my clients, visitors are spending a solid 2–3 minutes on each blog post and around 55–60% actually engage with the content. That’s huge, especially considering there’s a clear intent behind those search queries. People want what you’re talking about, and your data provides the insights to understand what people want to consume.

So, what does this mean for you?

Are-Blogs-Still-Worth-Your-Time-in-2025

If that sounds like you, knowing how blogs are working for your website, your marketing, your business, is a must-have in 2026. Marketing analytics will show you what’s happening, and enable you to make informed decisions to focus your time, efforts, and money. Maybe your keywords need tweaking to align with your audience’s search intent and terms. Maybe your blog topics aren’t hitting the mark, or maybe you’re not posting often enough. Instead of guessing, let your data tell you where to adapt and which content themes deserve your focus, time, and effort. Essentially, it’s the difference between hoping “I think this will work” and confidently knowing “Yes, this is working, and here’s why.”

As we’ve seen, blogs are still worth your time in 2026, and with data guiding your decisions, it’s a vital part of your marketing approach. Implementing a data-informed approach helps you build awareness, cultivate trust, and yes, drive more leads and sales. It’s all about creating the kind of content your readers want to consume, then measuring how well it performs, so you can keep iterating and improving.

Ask Yourself:

  • Which pages or blog posts see the most organic search visits?
  • What actions are people taking when they land on those website pages?
  • Which search terms have the highest traffic potential for your brand/business?
  • Are they signing up for your email, submitting a lead form, booking a discovery call, or heading straight to checkout?

If you’ve been treating your blog like an afterthought, consider this your push to test applying a consistent approach to blogging in 2026. We all know I love testing! Start with one solid blog post a month, and let your marketing analytics guide the topics, keywords, and structure. Look at tools like Google Search Console to better understand what your audience and potential audience are searching. In a data-driven world where organic search can account for up to half your traffic, your blog isn’t just “nice to have,” it’s a core part of your marketing approach.
